NM Sanctuary State Bill Puts Criminal Illegal Aliens First

When Democrats aren’t mocking rural New Mexicans, disrespecting law enforcement, legalizing 100% unrestricted abortion up to the date of birth, lethally injecting breast cancer patients, putting mom and pop shops out of business by raising the minimum wage, destroying the oil & gas industry, snatching guns from law-abiding citizens, or bankrupting the state by paying for free daycare, they are trying to turn New Mexico into a “sanctuary state.”

Doesn’t that just sound lovely? A sanctuary sounds so calm and peaceful. Who wouldn’t want to be in a sanctuary? Well, I sure wouldn’t be, given the Left’s definition of what “sanctuary” is. What the euphemism really means is a law which would force law enforcement officials to break federal statues by not allowing them to refer illegal aliens to federal authorities for deportation. Sheriffs, police officers, or any other law enforcement official would be commanded to BREAK FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAW. Sounds pretty unconstitutional, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, this reckless policy is nothing new to the Land of Enchantment. Former Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales turned our state capitol into a sanctuary city, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller turned the Duke City into one, and the Las Cruces City Council voted on the measure in 2017.

Innocent human life is being lost across our nation already, with families being ripped away from their loved ones each year at the hands of lawless, unwanted, and reprehensible illegal aliens, eager to cause harm to Americans. Last year alone, 12 Americans were allegedly murdered by illegal aliens, including Cpl. Ronil Singh, who was slain the day after Christmas by a known gang member in the sanctuary state of California.

In 2015, Kate Steinle was walking with her father along a San Francisco pier and was shot in broad daylight by an illegal alien who had been previously deported from the U.S. five times. However, because of California’s sanctuary policy, the criminal re-entered the country. These are just some examples of the deaths that have occurred due to illegal sanctuary laws; thousands have been sexually abused and injured because of the existence of such policies.

On Thursday, a group of 247 illegals was arrested near the Antelope Wells point of Entry in southern New Mexico, and who knows what kinds of people were in the group. For too long, Americans have been robbed, raped, shot, maimed, stabbed, or even gruesomely executed by illegal aliens, who have absolutely no right to be in the United States.

As my last article noted the Governor’s disrespect for law enforcement to do their jobs by barring them from carrying their weapons in the state capitol, House Bill 195 and Senate Bill 196 (the Sanctuary city bills) will also put New Mexico sheriffs and law enforcers in a tight spot, where they will live in fear of the governor’s wrath if they do not ignore federal laws. The bills are sponsored by Democrat reps. Patricia Roybal Caballero, Richard Martinez, and Senator Linda Lopez

Fresno’s Sheriff Margaret Mims called California’s sanctuary state law, which is hurting her community “a disgrace.” San Diego Supervisor Kristin Gaspar explained that her border county is “a great place to commit a crime because you can either be across the border in a matter of minutes and shielded by Mexico or you have the option of staying put.” Imagine how law enforcers in Doña Ana, Hidalgo, and Luna counties will suffer, unable to stop crime because they are legally not allowed to.

If these sad excuses for bills pass, citizens may find themselves as the next Kate Steinle or Cpl. Ronil Singh, both victims of sanctuary states. I urge law enforcers and citizens to vehemently oppose this legislation and inform their friends about the fatal consequences.

Just because someone calls something a “sanctuary,” doesn’t mean it’s a positive thing. I could call a dark alleyway with heroin needles and drunken vagrants a “sanctuary,” but that wouldn’t make it one in reality. Tell your legislators to vote in favor of their lawful constituents rather than lawless illegals, or else we will vote them out.
