On Friday, in an apparent attempt at hitting against President Trump, Democrat Rep. Ben Ray Luján took to Twitter to announce his partnership with socialist Senator and 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren to sponsor the “Accountable Capitalism Act,” which has been described by business experts as a “socialist takeover of American business.”
In Lujan’s tweet, he claimed, “the economy is not working for the American people. That’s why
[Elizabeth Warren] and I are reintroducing the landmark Accountable Capitalism Act to tackle income inequality and ensure a just and fair economy for our families. It’s time to level the playing field for the middle-class.”
This manufactured outrage comes as the September jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor shows a 50-year record unemployment rate of 3.5% and 136,000 jobs gained. Also, the jobless rate for Hispanics hit a record low of 3.9% in September, while the Black unemployment rate maintained its lowest rate ever at 5.5%. The unemployment rate for Asian Americans was 2.5% in September. The jobless rate for adult women came in at 3.1%.
In July, the Dow Jones Industrial Average notched to a historic first close above 27,000, and the S&P 500 reaching a record high of 3,000.
So, it’s unclear where Ben Ray Luján is coming from when he claims the economy is not working for the American people. Peoples’ 401-k retirement accounts are booming, people are finding jobs, and minorities have reached record unemployment rates.
Ben Ray Luján’s socialist attempts at misleading New Mexicans by claiming the economy is failing are misguided and show his unfitness to lead in the House, and does not deserve a promotion to the Senate.
Lujan is a dyed-in-the-wool leftist who will never give President Trump for doing a job well done. I wouldn’t vote for the man for dog catcher.
He is an embarrassment to the State of New Mexico as well as our Governor
Our state needs to remove the leftist liberals who are working to destroy our states economy. As long as they are in control of our state we will be a poor state with a poor future. The green new deal will destroy the economy and jobs in our state.
