Trump Delivers

The night went better than expected at the Republican National Convention. The speakers all were impressive, including RNC chairman Reince Priebus. Reince hit hard at Clinton, saying “We need to stop Hillary Clinton!” and “She lied, and she lied over and over and over again.” From the speech, the delegates could tell he was not just pandering to another crowd of Republicans. Priebus was making the case for what the Republican Party and America would lose with a Clinton Presidency. Reince Priebus called on Trump to be the nation’s leader and said: “Trump wants to make sure you can pay the mortgage.” The speech opened up what is the largest problem in this country’s long list, which is the economy. As a businessman, Trump has time and again shown his colors regarding his gifts in business. He turned a small fortune into an empire, which is an accomplishment America desperately needs in this election cycle.

A heartfelt speech from Peter Thiel showed that a gay man can be Republican. He said, “I am proud to be gay, I am proud to be a Republican, but most of all, I am proud to be an American!” Thiel is the co-founder of PayPal and a proud addition to the Republican Party. History was made on the stage of the Cleveland convention, before Trump or even Ivanka Trump took the stage. Thiel’s speech was an example that anything is possible and that all people can be part of the party, no matter differences such as sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity. Peter Thiel proves how much Trump has united America in the Republican Party.

The crowd went wild as Ivanka Trump walked on stage. “You’re not a builder unless you’ve got a building to show for it,” she said in her speech. She added that her father is “incapable of thinking small. He used to say, ‘Ivanka, You’re going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big.’” Ivanka was generous complimenting her father, even going as far as to say “He is  the single most qualified person to serve as chief executive of a 16 trillion dollar economy.” The crowd roared. “No one has more faith in the American people that my father. He will be your greatest truest and most loyal champion. This is the fighter, the doer you’ve chosen as your nominee.” She then introduced her father, with assurance to the American people that they indeed have made the correct choice.

Donald J. Trump delivered what can be said as the single greatest speech he has ever given. His conviction, soul, and love of America seemed to pour out of his mouth throughout the speech. As predicted by Join the Block Party, Trump chose to be bold and vigorous, not caving to political correctness. Trump started with conviction, “I humbly and gratefully accept your nomination for the President of the United States.” Trump then began to mark the accomplishments the American people have reached by nominating him. “We, and  I say we because we’re a team, have received 14 million votes, the most in the history of the Republican party, [getting] 60% more votes than [we] received eight years ago.”

Trump’s speech unfolded by tackling immigration, terrorism, and the economy. Trump numerously repeated how the Clintons would be the demise of America, and he stated that America “Will be a country of generosity and warmth, but will also be the country of law and order. We cannot afford to be so politically correct anymore.” At each bold statement, Trump uttered, the crowd got louder and louder with passion.

There was only one protester from what Join the Block Party could discern. She was quickly booed and disregarded as she was escorted from the premises. Trump added on her way out, “How great are our police and how great is Cleveland?” Later in the speech, Trump spoke to Americans, saying “We’re going to be considerate and compassionate…But the greatest compassion will be for our own struggling citizens!” Trump’s words yielded a “USA! USA! USA!” from the crowd, which he repeated vibrantly.

What shocked us at Join The Block Party most from Trump’s convention speech was his bold and unapologetic plan to return religious freedom to America, by saying “An amendment, pushed by Lyndon Johnson, many years ago, threatens religious institutions with a loss of their tax-exempt status if they openly advocate their political views. I am going to work very hard to repeal that language and protect free speech for all Americans.” We applaud Trump for this policy, which has not been spoken of the whole election season, but he is infamous for being a trendsetter. Dr. Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church in Dallas is one of Trump’s evangelical leading forces, and we believe this push has come from Dr. Jeffress and his close encounters to losing his tax exempt status for standing up for political and religious freedom from the pulpit.

Another big issue on the campaign season this cycle was the travesty of hard-working coal miners being put out of their jobs and disregarded by Hillary Clinton in numerous comments. Trump said, “As Donald J. Trump as president, our steel workers, and our miners are going back to work again!” In many ways, Trump’s speech was about jobs and creating jobs. He brought up unemployment rates of minorities and his commitment to paying women equal to men for equal work. He used his platform to speak to all the American people, not just some of them while giving them the answers they craved.

Trump showed the American people that if they are told they can’t do something, prove the naysayers wrong. In his speech, Trump said “Remember: all of the people telling you that you can’t have the country you want, are the same people telling you that I wouldn’t be standing here tonight. No longer can we rely on those elites in media, and politics, who will say anything to keep a rigged system in place. Instead, we must choose to Believe In America. History is watching us now. It’s waiting to see if we will rise to the occasion and if we will show the whole world that America is still free and independent and strong.” Trump gave his heart and soul into this convention speech and turned people’s views around for what they wanted for their America.

After the iconic speech, Melania and Barron Trump showed up together on stage, the first public appearance of Barron this whole campaign season. Once the family had arrived on the stage, along with Mike Pence and his family, the end had come for the successful Republican National Convention.

The formalities of banging the gavel by Paul Ryan in closing of the convention commenced. The RNC was officially adjourned for four years from now, in hopes that those future Republicans be there to support Donald Trump in his reelection.
