Vulnerable Rep. Torres Small likely to vote for formal impeachment probe

On Monday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced her intention to have a vote on Thursday to formalize the Democrats’ impeachment probe into President Donald Trump after weeks of secret interviews and meetings.

Although it took Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) awhile to get on board Pelosi’s impeachment push, she came out publicly in support of the inquiry on October 10, writing “the administration left me with no other way to get the information the country deserves than to support an impeachment inquiry.”

The freshman representative who votes 91% of the time with Speaker Pelosi according to ProPublica, an independent, non-partisan newsroom, including on her nomination for Speaker of the House, is expected to vote along party lines for the impeachment probe, as she has previously stated she will do.

Despite New Mexicans repeatedly rallying outside of Torres Small’s Belen and Soccorro offices for her not to support the impeachment of President Trump, she seems to have ignored their pleas, to instead vote with her party leader, Nancy Pelosi and other radical members of Congress, including the anti-Semitic “Squad” comprised of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

Torres Small has voted with “Squad” leader Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 90% of the time, showing her move leftward despite citizens’ wishes.

The freshman representative’s vote on impeachment could very well be one of the final nails in her political coffin, as her heavily Republican district, which President Donald J. Trump won by 10.2% will not take kindly to her “yea” vote to proceed on impeachment.

  1. It is just one more example of the Democrats showing that they will follow their own ideologies rather than those of the citizens. It is likely that those who demonstrated will not vote for her the next time around.
