John has made defending the Constitution one of his highest priorities in the Legislature.
He has repeatedly fought sweeping gun-control legislation, sponsored Constitutional Carry, opposed attacks on lawful gun owners, and used legislative procedure to help stop bad bills before they became law.
John will continue standing firmly for the Second Amendment, free speech, due process, religious liberty, and every freedom guaranteed by our Constitution.
Supporting our Military and Law Enforcement heroes who keep us safe.
Southern New Mexico is home to Holloman Air Force Base, thousands of veterans, military families, law enforcement officers, and first responders who sacrifice every day to keep us safe.
John has supported legislation strengthening protections for police officers, expanding benefits for veterans and military retirees, and improving New Mexico’s treatment of military families.
He has also been one of the Legislature’s strongest voices for border security and immigration enforcement and has fought efforts that threaten Otero County jobs and undermine cooperation with ICE.
John will always stand with our military, veterans, police officers, first responders, Border Patrol agents, and the men and women who defend our communities and country.
Protecting Life, Families, and Parental Rights
John is unapologetically pro-life and believes every human life has inherent value.
He has sponsored pro-life legislation, opposed taxpayer support for abortion, and consistently defended parents’ rights to make decisions regarding their children.
John will continue fighting radical policies that undermine parents, expose children to inappropriate material, or replace the values of New Mexico families with government mandates.
Parents — not politicians or bureaucrats — should have the final say when it comes to raising their children.
Fighting Crime, and Keeping Our Communities Safe
New Mexicans deserve safe neighborhoods and a justice system that puts law-abiding citizens ahead of violent criminals.
John has supported tougher penalties for violent offenders, legislation protecting law enforcement officers, reforms to New Mexico’s broken criminal justice system, and stronger accountability for those who prey on children.
He will continue fighting the revolving door that puts dangerous offenders back on our streets and opposing policies that make the job of law enforcement harder.
Protecting Election Integrity, and Government Accountability
John serves as a leading Republican voice on government and election issues in the New Mexico House.
He has sponsored Voter ID, fought efforts to weaken election safeguards, challenged unnecessary government expansion, and pushed for greater transparency and accountability in Santa Fe.
John believes it should be easy to vote and hard to cheat, and that government should always answer to the people — not the other way around.
Standing Up for Taxpayers, Small Businesses, and New Mexico Energy
John believes government should live within its means just like New Mexico families and businesses have to.
He has fought tax increases, opposed wasteful government spending, defended small businesses from costly mandates, and supported policies that allow New Mexico families to keep more of what they earn.
John has also fought attacks on New Mexico’s oil, gas, nuclear, and other traditional energy industries while pushing for a level playing field in which politically favored industries do not receive special treatment.
John earned a 100% voting record from NFIB on small-business issues.
Delivering Results for Otero County
Being conservative is not enough. You also have to get things done.
John has helped secure millions of dollars for Alamogordo and Otero County priorities, including public safety, infrastructure, water projects, community facilities, and other local needs.
He has worked to improve access to health care and keep doctors practicing in New Mexico, expand protections and benefits for veterans and disabled New Mexicans, and ensure southern New Mexico receives its fair share from Santa Fe.
John also stays engaged year-round — attending legislative and interim committee meetings, working directly with local officials and constituents, and sending regular legislative updates so the people he represents know exactly what is happening at the Roundhouse.
A Conservative Fighter Who Delivers
John doesn’t go to Santa Fe to make friends with the political establishment.
He goes there to fight for the people of House District 51.
Whether that means passing good legislation, stopping bad bills, fighting for Otero County funding, standing with law enforcement and ICE, defending constitutional rights, or holding government accountable, John will continue giving southern New Mexico the strong conservative voice it deserves.
